2-Day Advanced Solar PV Design & Electrical Code

Ontario Solar Academy’s 2-Day Advanced Solar PV Design and Electrical Code covers in depth coverage of inverter string sizing, wire sizing, system design and installations that follow local electrical code for residential and commercial solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.

$895 (+ HST) - Includes tuition, all course materials, plus lunch and refreshments for both days (Discounts for Graduates of 5-Day Course).

It is recommended that you have a copy of the Canadian and/or Ontario Electrical Code.  You can purchase them here in downloadable or print format.

Professor Eric Smiley

Advanced PV Solar InstructorEric Smiley is a professor in the Engineering Department at Vancouver Island University and coordinates a two-year diploma in Green Building and Renewable Energy Technology. . A former board member of the CanSIA – Canadian Solar Industries Association and an Honorary Director of the BC Sustainable Energy Association, Professor Smiley currently serves on the Exam Committee for the NABCEP – North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners and the Section 50 sub-committee of the Canadian Electrical Code.  He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering from McGill University and completed his Masters of Applied Science at Simon Fraser University in 2002

Professor Smiley has extensive experience with small scale renewable energy system design, installation and sales including work with micro-hydro, solar electric, and wind electric systems. In addition he worked for six years at the British Columbia Institute of Technology where he conducted applied research and development on the design, modeling and deployment of Building Integrated Photovoltaic Systems. He is registered as a Professional Engineering in the Province of BC and holds a Certificate of Qualification for Photovoltaic System installation in the Province of BC.
