Solar CareerOntario has a shortage of qualified professionals to meet the demand generated by the Ontario Power Authority’s FIT and microFIT programs.  Businesses throughout the province are constantly seeking system designers, project managers, and installers with professional solar training and experience.

According to a 2009 join study between the Electricity Sector Council and the Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA):

  • Solar companies anticipate a significant growth of 101% in the number of full-time equivalents to be employed by the end of 2011.
  • Some 41% of companies were experiencing labour shortages at the time of the survey, with 75% specifying installation employees.
  • 51% of companies expect to face shortages by the end of 2011, once again in the area of installation (78%), followed by systems design and integration (51%), project management (40%), and engineering (40%).
