Welcome to Canada’s Premier Solar Training School
Ontario Solar Academy is Canada’s best solar training institute: We are the most experienced, our faculty is the most credentialed, and our new Solar Training Centre is the most advanced. We are also Canada’s only ISPQ-accredited training institute.
Since the launch of the Green Energy Act, and Ontario’s Feed-In-Tariff Program, we’ve trained more students than any other school, with over 300 graduates from across Ontario, as well as other Canadian provinces. Our new best-of-class Solar Training Centre near Toronto’s Pearson International Airport features a life-size model roof for optimum installation training.
Solar Academy provides not only the highest quality training, but the lowest price. Our Price Match Offer guarantees you get the best training at the best price!
Our courses meet the highest standards in safety, installation, and design, and we provide Ontario-focused instruction to help you successfully navigate the Canadian Electrical Code, microFIT program, and FIT program. Under the guidance of our expert instructors, you can learn how to safely and efficiently install solar PV technology, whether you are a professional contractor, homeowner, or business owner.
Ontario-Specific, NABCEP-Based Solar Education
Our Ontario-specific 5-day training program carefully explores the province’s feed-in-tariff (FIT) program, microFIT program, and Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) to ensure that you understand all of the regulatory and financial considerations that go into professional solar installation.
Our entry-level course is designed to accommodate both those with strong technical backgrounds and those completely new to the field. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never been on a roof or don’t know the first thing about electrical wiring. Using the learning objectives of the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), our carefully crafted curriculum will help you quickly master solar photovoltaic (PV) design, installation, and safety.
Over the course of 5 days of intensive solar panel training, you will learn:
- site survey and shading analysis
- multiple solar system installations (full wiring, conduit panels, racking)
- working with micro-inverters and string inverters
- tile cutting, roof penetrations, and racking
- ground mounts
- solar tools workshop (pulling wires, bending conduit, combiner boxes)
- load center tie-in / project staging
Unrivaled Solar Training Experience
Not only do our students benefit from carefully designed ISPQ-accredited instruction, but they also gain from the thousands of hours of solar PV teaching experience that our solar instructors have accumulated over the years. NABCEP-certified with extensive professional experience training and installing throughout North America, David’s teaching style is accessible for the solar novice, while also engaging for more experienced students. Those who successfully pass our intensive 5-Day Solar PV Design & Installation training are eligible to sit for the NABCEP PV Entry Level Exam administered by the Academy on the last Friday of each month in the GTA.
Learning by Doing
The best way to learn is to do! This is how our NABCEP-certified solar instructors mastered their skills, and this is how you will master yours.
