Solar Academy -Canada is now based at our Toronto Training Centre @ Franken Solar, 400 Britannia Rd East, Suite 3 Mississauga, Ontario L4Z 1X9, Canada, an outstanding center learning solar design and installation, conveniently located 15 minutes from Toronto’s  Pearson International Airport.

Our 5-Day course concludes with a field trip on the final day to a uniquely advanced green building, certified Gold under LEED for New Construction.  The building is a showcase of cutting edge sustainable building technology, including solar energy and energy metering. Two solar photovoltaic (PV) systems are in operation there:  a 28 kW fixed system and a 58kW parking lot system with 6 separate dual-axis tracking arrays that follow the sun from east to west during the day, increasing output by up to 30 per cent over a fixed panel.

Our courses meet the highest standards in safety, installation, and design, and we provide Ontario-focused instruction to help you successfully navigate the Canadian Electrical Code, microFIT program, and FIT program. Under the guidance of our expert instructors, you can learn how to safely and efficiently install solar PV technology, whether you are a professional contractor, homeowner, or business owner.

Ontario-Specific, NABCEP-Based Solar Education

Our Ontario-specific 5-day training program carefully explores the province’s feed-in-tariff (FIT) program, microFIT program, and Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) to ensure that you understand all of the regulatory and financial considerations that go into professional solar installation.

Our entry-level course is designed to accommodate both those with strong technical backgrounds and those completely new to the field. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never been on a roof or don’t know the first thing about electrical wiring. Using the learning objectives of the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP), our carefully crafted curriculum will help you quickly master solar photovoltaic (PV) design, installation, and safety.

Over the course of 5 days of intensive solar panel training, you will learn:

• site survey and shading analysis
• multiple solar system installations (full wiring, conduit panels, racking)
• working with micro-inverters and string inverters
• tile cutting, roof penetrations, and racking
• ground mounts
• solar tools workshop (pulling wires, bending conduit, combiner boxes)
• load center tie-in / project staging
